NOT GAINING WEIGHT
It is more than a month since I arrived at my son's place in the US. My son an
d his wife Eli, had consistently been feeding me with all sort of healthy meals at home and at their choicest restaurants. I enjoyed every meals and sometimes felt they are overfeeding me and yet my weight remain the same. It is still 45 kg. Very disappointing indeed.I wonder where has all the nutrients and the calories had gone to.

I have been trying to gain weight for sometimes now. It used to be 50 kg a few years ago. I have tried everything, like taking pills a few times but I was advised against it by my family doctor. He told me that my weight is okay since I have a small frame. But I felt terrible. I want my weight back.

OBESITY AND ITS PROBLEMS
When I was on my way to the US I noticed a strange phenomena. I saw so many big-sized people, especially among the Arabs and the African Americans . This is from my personal observation while waiting for my connecting flight to Detroit. I was there for a solid ten hours.
I also noticed this phenomenon when I was performing my pilgrimage in Mecca in the late 1980's
When I was at the Los Angeles Airport, I saw this lady with her teen-age daughter entered into this restaurant where I have anchored myself while waiting for my flight.
The mother was so big and heavy, the swivel chair seemed to disappear under her 'butts' when she sat on it. It look like an abandoned bag of potatoes. My guessed is that she must be about 120 kg or more.
'Oh! my Gosh' I thought to myself and 'how awful', and here I am trying to gain weight. I am wondering what type of food her family had taken because her daughter was big-sized like her, but not as flabby, maybe because she is still young.

When I was on my flight to Detroit, I had to take a NorthWest airline. I was sitting next to an Arab lady. She told me she is an Arab but had made her home in Canada for the last 15 years. She was visiting her families in LA. Her son, she told me has a band and is performing at one of the entertainment outlet some where in Canada. I was occupying the window seat and she was seated in the middle and there was another lady sitting next to her.
It was a four hours flight and I had to go to toilet twice because I have been taking a few bottles of fruit juice while waiting in the terminal. Unlike our own airline in Malaysia where the seat is wide and comfortable, NorthWest seats are not. The seats is placed so close to each other and we were so crowded and crammed like a bursting hemline and I felt suffocated. I had a rough time trying to get out off my seat, because she was so big.
She had to squeeze herself out of the seat before I could get out to go to the toilet and when I am done, she had to squeeze out again. I pitied her. As I was so small, compared to her I moved about very easily in and out. I noticed that a lot of African Americans are very big and heavy.
Another experience I had was when we were in one of the shopping outlet in Great Lake crossings in Auburn Hills, a few weeks ago. BTW that was the first Shopping outlet my son brought me to, after I arrived in Ann arbor.
This is one of the biggest indoor shopping centre in Ann arbor, with 200 shopping outlets all around. It is a very impressive place with indoor children's play ground and food courts in between.
I noticed the people here are mostly big and heavy. Children and adult alike. Maybe it is in their genes. I noticed this while they were queueing at the food courts. I saw so many people are oversized. They are not beautiful at all.
Now I realized how lucky I am and yet here I am complaining. Now I have second thoughts. Maybe I should just keep on eating more high calorie food and stop thinking whether I am gaining or loosing weight. Anyway that was what all my friends are saying.
